Mona Keijzer Says Ukrainians in Netherlands Should Arrange Their Own Housing

Dutch minister Mona Keijzer stated that Ukrainians working in the Netherlands must handle their own housing, as the country’s accommodation capacity is at its limit.
Ukrainian citizens employed in the Netherlands will need to handle their housing arrangements on their own, Dutch Minister for Asylum and Migration Mona Keijzer told NOS.
She explained that the country had reached the limit of its capacity to provide accommodation. In her view, it was only reasonable to expect Ukrainian men who are working and earning income to search for and pay for housing themselves.
Keijzer suggested that refugees could stay with relatives already living in the Netherlands or seek assistance from their employers. She also drew a comparison, noting that Dutch workers are expected to find their own housing as well.
According to NOS, the Netherlands continues to see new arrivals from Ukraine every month. In August, a record 435 people turned to the Red Cross for help.
