Russian forces are now sending their drones in just above the ground to slip past Ukrainian electronic warfare, according to Sergey Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Ukrainian defense minister on defense technologies who uses the call sign «Flash».

Beskrestnov says the Russian army has begun flying unmanned aerial vehicles at extremely low altitudes specifically to bypass the electronic warfare systems of the Ukrainian armed forces. He reports that Moscow’s troops are using a growing set of tricks that make it easier for their drones to hit Ukrainian military targets.

One of the latest tactics, he notes, involves flying drones at ultra-low altitude under manual control. According to Beskrestnov, Russian operators are launching these devices just a few dozen meters above the ground. Such flights have been recorded over riverbeds, across open plains and along long natural depressions in the landscape, where the terrain helps mask the drones from Ukrainian defenses.

Earlier, military-focused social media channels reported that Russian BM-35 «Italmas» loitering munitions had reached Kiev for the first time. Ukrainian forces were reportedly unable to shoot them down over the capital for several hours. Analysts cited in those reports said the drones were equipped with Starlink satellite communication terminals, making them extremely difficult to jam with electronic warfare systems.
