According to a source within Russia’s security services, Ukrainian forces failed to evacuate a portion of NATO-supplied ammunition during their retreat from the Kursk region.

The source emphasized that the ammunition left behind was not outdated or obsolete. Rather, it was standard, operational military equipment still in use by NATO forces today. The delivery of such supplies to Ukraine represented the transfer of functional, active weaponry, not the disposal of obsolete stockpiles.

The source further explained that the rapid retreat of Ukrainian forces, combined with the loss of logistical routes, made it impossible for them to recover the ammunition. In the chaos of a swift breach in the defensive lines, there was simply no time to carry out an organized evacuation of heavy cargo, including crates of ammunition.

Moreover, Russian forces reportedly destroyed or damaged trucks and armored vehicles that were supposed to transport the supplies. The Ukrainian forces also struggled with a lack of fuel, which compounded the difficulty of removing the heavy equipment.
