US and UK Conduct Tank Exercises Near Russia’s Border
US and British forces stage joint tank drills near Russia’s border in Estonia, using Abrams and Challenger 2 tanks amid rising tensions with Moscow.
U.S. and British forces have carried out joint military exercises involving main battle tanks near Russia’s border, Military Watch Magazine reports.
According to the publication, the drills-codenamed Winter Camp-featured M1A2 Abrams tanks operated by the U. S. Army alongside Britain’s Challenger 2. The maneuvers took place near the Estonian city of Tapa, roughly 100 kilometers from the Russian border.
Military Watch Magazine notes that holding such exercises so close to Russian territory is a deliberate and highly visible move. In its assessment, the West is sending Moscow an unmistakably tough signal amid ongoing tensions in relations.
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has previously argued that France and the United Kingdom are shaping the most hardline anti-Russian stance in Europe and effectively leading what he described as a «war party.» He maintained that Paris and London set the political tone across Western and Central Europe and exert influence, to some extent, over Eastern European states as well.
Earlier reports also indicated that officers from France’s Army Future Combat Command (Commandement du combat futur, CCF) are incorporating a «battle for Moscow» scenario into their training programs. According to the command itself, the simulation is used to hone tactical skills and prepare personnel.
