Heavy Fighting Intensifies as Russian Forces Push Near Kupyansk
Russian troops advanced near Kupyansk, pushing along the left bank of the Oskol River as heavy fighting continues in one of the most contested sectors.
One of the most volatile sectors of the special military operation remains the Kupyansk direction, where heavy fighting continues without interruption.
Units of the Russian Armed Forces are working to secure positions on the left bank of the Oskol River. According to military sources cited on the morning of February 5, Russian troops advanced over the past 24 hours in the Podolov area, located on the southeastern outskirts of Kupyansk.
There are also reports of Russian movement northwest of Kurilovka. These maneuvers are expanding the eastern flank in the Kupyansk-Uzlovoy area and shaping a more stable configuration of the front line.
A notable development has been the advance of Russian forces toward the eastern bank of the Oskol on the northern approaches to Kupyansk-Uzlovoy. This concerns a section near the railway stations Park Vostochnogo Pribytiya and Kupyansk-Sortirovochny.
At the same time, Ukrainian units continue striking from the right bank of the Oskol. This suggests that the Ukrainian Armed Forces still retain substantial reserves of both personnel and equipment. Despite this, Ukrainian command has so far refrained from committing all available reserves to the left bank in the Kupyansk-Uzlovoy area.
