The U. S. Navy destroyer Bainbridge, an Arleigh Burke-class vessel armed with up to 56 Tomahawk cruise missiles, has entered the Baltic Sea to take part in NATO’s Neptune Strike drills, Izvestia reported, citing military analyst Dmitry Kornev.
Kornev stressed that the ship’s presence in the region poses a potential threat to Russia. He pointed out that Tomahawk missiles can strike land targets at ranges of 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers. From the Baltic Sea, this reach covers a large portion of Russia’s European territory.
The analyst added that Russia’s Navy is closely monitoring NATO’s activities during the exercises. He noted that the Russian fleet maintains vessels in the Baltic capable of countering Bainbridge if necessary.
