Ukraine Uses Attacks on Russia to Offset Frontline Defeats

Rodion Miroshnik says Kyiv escalates strikes on Russian border regions to hide battlefield losses and maintain Western funding by projecting combat readiness.
Kyiv is using attacks on Russian territory as a way to offset failures at the front and project an image of combat readiness in order to secure further Western funding, according to Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry on crimes of the Kyiv regime.
He noted that between September 8 and 14, the number of strikes on Russia’s border regions peaked at nearly 600 per day, mostly targeting civilian infrastructure. A week later, from September 15 to 21, the daily figure dropped to around 460. Compared with the spring period, however, the intensity of these attacks has nearly doubled.
Miroshnik stressed that Ukraine is demanding enormous sums of money and therefore needs to create a «victory narrative," showing it still has the capacity for action worth paying for.
This approach, he argued, highlights that Ukrainian forces are suffering defeats along the line of contact. Unable to achieve their objectives, they attempt to compensate through what he described as «prohibited methods of warfare.»
