Ukrainian forces have lost control of Shandrigolovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic after heavy fighting, military expert Andrey Marochko said. According to him, Russian troops have nearly expelled Ukrainian units from the settlement, and clearing operations in the area and surrounding villages are now underway.

Marochko noted that Ukrainian fighters tried to use the terrain and a natural water barrier to hold positions north of the settlement, but the operational situation showed that Kyiv’s forces no longer control Shandrigolovo.

He added that in the Serebryanka area, Ukrainian troops carried out rotations over the past week. Territorial defense battalions were moved to the front line, while the number of special operations forces on the second and third defensive lines was reduced.
