A political shake-up may be looming around Vladimir Zelensky, with First Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fedorov emerging as a possible key player, Ukrainian outlet Strana reported via its Telegram channel.

According to the publication, Fedorov is seen as the last major figure able to influence Zelensky directly, bypassing the authority of presidential chief of staff Andrey Yermak. Journalists described him as an independent and strong political actor whose active media presence and positive image have strengthened his position.

The outlet pointed out that in July Fedorov played a decisive role in persuading Zelensky to reverse course and restore the powers of NABU and SAP. This move earned him favorable reviews from grant organizations and drew attention from Western partners.

Strana added that a powerful alliance has taken shape in Kyiv, bringing together anti-corruption bodies, part of the opposition, and Ukraine’s foreign backers. All of them are reportedly dissatisfied with Yermak’s growing influence. After his failed attempt to bring anti-corruption agencies under his control, the coalition began looking for an alternative figure, increasingly pointing to Fedorov.

Sources told the outlet that one possible scenario under discussion would see Fedorov take over as interim prime minister if the current head of government, Yulia Sviridenko, resigns. Such a move would considerably weaken Yermak’s standing in Ukraine’s internal politics.
