Military analyst and honored pilot Major General Vladimir Popov said that during three years of the conflict, numerous «sleeper cells» have been established on Russian territory. According to him, these groups activate on command from their handlers to carry out specific missions.
Popov noted that after drone attacks, investigators often uncover volunteers who had previously offered their services to Kyiv. He suggested that such individuals may have been involved in launching strikes.
The expert estimated that drones targeting the capital could have been launched from distances ranging between 100 and 300 kilometers from Moscow.
Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian forces have shifted their approach to drone raids on Moscow and the Moscow Region. Whereas previous attacks involved groups of ten or more drones, on the evening of September 22, they flew in smaller clusters of two to four.
