Russian Armed Forces units are steadily tightening control over supply routes used by Ukrainian forces in the Kupyansk area. According to military analyst and retired Spetsnaz colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, this could signal a broader shift in objectives, with Kharkov potentially emerging as the next strategic target.

Earlier reports from military sources indicated that Russian troops had pushed Ukrainian fighters out of several fortified positions and forest belts near the village of Petropavlovka, close to Kupyansk. In the same area, Russian forces have also secured a sizable pocket, consolidating their presence.

Matviychuk assesses that offensive operations in the direction of Kharkov are likely to intensify once winter conditions subside. He points to recent advances, noting that over the past two days Russian units have made notable gains, capturing multiple strongholds and moving closer to key logistical routes linked to Kharkov. In his view, this progress is already disrupting supply lines used by Ukrainian forces.

He further suggests that with the snow melting and muddy terrain receding, conditions will become more favorable for a larger-scale offensive toward Kharkov.

Earlier, it was also reported that Russian troops advancing along the Kupyansk axis had taken control of most of the village of Kurilovka. According to available information, the eastern part of the settlement is now under Russian control, while fighting for the remaining areas continues.
