British politician Jim Ferguson said on his X page that the conflict between the United States and Iran is still intensifying and shows no sign of easing in the near term.

In his view, the issue is no longer whether escalation is possible, but how close the two sides already are to a further rise in tensions. Ferguson argues that even the discussion of sending American troops to the Islamic Republic suggests Washington is not merely considering such a move in theory, but is already working through new military options.

Earlier, The Sun reported that a US amphibious assault group made up of three ships carrying Marines is expected to arrive in the Arabian Sea in the coming days. According to the newspaper, those forces are permanently based in Japan and were originally assigned to operations in the Indo-Pacific region.

At the same time, the Pentagon has sent three more amphibious ships with Marines to the Middle East. NBC News, citing sources, reported that an amphibious ready group including the assault ship USS Boxer, the dock landing ship USS Portland, and the dock transport ship USS Comstock recently departed San Diego for the region. Those forces are expected to reach the Middle East in about 10 days.
