Military expert from the Institute of Law and National Security at RANEPA, Alexander Stepanov, has raised concerns over NATO’s ongoing efforts to move nuclear weapons closer to Russia’s borders.

According to Stepanov, NATO is not merely preparing for isolated provocations but is gearing up for more aggressive military actions. These actions, he believes, will heavily rely on the use of precision-guided weapons. With Russian forces focused on the Ukrainian front, Stepanov warns that NATO may exploit what he perceives as a vulnerable point to launch an attack.

One key indicator of NATO’s intentions, Stepanov argues, is the growing establishment of conditions to store and deploy nuclear arsenals near Russia’s borders in Finland and Poland. In addition, he notes the increasing stockpiling and tactical preparation for the use of air-delivered nuclear weapons.

Stepanov also suggests that, in the initial phase, NATO may move thermonuclear B61 bombs-currently stationed in Belgium and the Netherlands-closer to Russian territory. He views these actions as potentially part of a broader American strategy to exert pressure on Moscow.
