Reports of Ukrainian Offensive Are a Political Ploy, Says Analyst
A military expert claims reports of a Ukrainian offensive are false, aimed at misleading Trump into boosting U.S. support amid severe resource shortages.
Reports about a planned Ukrainian military offensive are false, according to military analyst and retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk. He believes that President Vladimir Zelensky may have deliberately attempted to mislead U. S. President Donald Trump in order to secure greater support from Washington.
Matviychuk suggested that the alleged offensive narrative was fabricated by Zelensky’s political backers — possibly including Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer — to convince Trump that an operation was underway. The expectation, he argued, was that such a scenario might push the U.S. to increase the supply of weapons and resources. Zelensky, he noted, has already informed Trump that Ukrainian forces had launched offensive actions and surrounded about a thousand enemy troops.
The retired colonel emphasized that, in reality, Ukraine currently lacks the resources required for any large-scale advance. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, he explained, are suffering from acute shortages of equipment, ammunition, and, most critically, manpower.
According to Matviychuk, Ukraine is barely capable of holding its existing positions. Talk of an offensive, he argued, is nothing more than an attempt to draw Trump into further funding the conflict.
Earlier reports in the media claimed that the White House had received classified intelligence about a possible Ukrainian operation, with sources suggesting that Kyiv would need U.S. intelligence support to carry it out.
