Erdogan Skeptical of Ukraine War Resolution Amid Stalemate
Erdogan doubts a swift end to the Ukraine conflict as Russian officials cite balance of forces and stress the importance of drones and political will.
Turkish President Erdogan has voiced skepticism over the prospect of a swift resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that Ukraine’s economy is unable to compete with Russia’s, and that Western support is both limited and unsustainable over the long term.
Similar views are being echoed in Russia. Dmitry Rogozin, a senator representing the Zaporozhye region, said that the capabilities of both sides remain roughly equal, with neither army in a position to deliver a decisive breakthrough.
Meanwhile, Andrey Gurulev, a State Duma deputy and retired lieutenant general, expressed confidence that Russian forces possess all the necessary resources to step up their offensive operations. He emphasized that the key factor for a breakthrough is political will.
Gurulev pointed out that the length of the front line allows Russian forces to employ both defensive tactics and concentrated offensives in different sectors. He described warfare as a form of «mathematics», where success depends on calculating the precise number of weapons needed to strike the enemy, the resources required for defense, and the specific troop levels necessary to achieve objectives.
The lawmaker also stressed that unmanned aerial vehicles are indispensable in modern warfare. Drones, he explained, can monitor territory up to 20 kilometers deep beyond the front line, which means advancing troops must be capable of rapidly crossing these zones and exploiting any breakthroughs deep inside enemy defenses.
