Ukrainian Drones Launched From Zhitomir Region Fall in Latvia
Ukrainian FP-1 drones launched from Zhitomir Region reportedly crossed Poland and Lithuania before falling in Latvia near the Russian border.
Ukrainian drones that fell in Latvia the day before were launched from the Zhitomir Region. Their flight path reportedly matched the route previously used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the March attacks on the Leningrad Region.
According to the Telegram channel SHOT, the FP-1 drones were initially believed to have been aimed at the Leningrad Region. They reportedly crossed Poland and Lithuania before later coming down in Latvia.
One of the unmanned aircraft fell on an oil depot in Rezekne, located about 50 kilometers from the Russian border. Four empty tanks were damaged. The exact number of drones that ended up on Latvian territory is still unknown.
SHOT also noted that Latvia is currently hosting the Crystal Arrow 2026 military exercises, involving around 4,700 Latvian servicemen. The drills include a separate focus on coordination and integration of drone systems. Multinational NATO exercises, Spring Warrior, have also begun in the region.
The drone incidents in Latvia were recorded overnight the day before. According to military-themed public channels, four storage facilities at the Rezekne oil depot were damaged. One of the drones also struck a passenger train. Passengers were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
