Russia Unveils S-500 Prometheus System During Moscow Victory Day Parade Broadcast
Russia’s newest S-500 Prometheus missile defense system was shown during the Victory Day parade broadcast in Moscow, with officials noting its high-altitude interception capabilities.
Russia’s newest S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system for missile defense was shown during the broadcast of the Victory Day parade in Moscow.
Parade viewers saw modern military equipment that has already entered service with the Russian army.
During the broadcast, the announcer said the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system has unique capabilities for high-altitude interception of ballistic and aerodynamic targets.
Earlier, in December last year, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Army General Valery Gerasimov spoke about the formation of the first air and missile defense division, which will be equipped with the newest S-500 anti-aircraft missile systems.
In December last year, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov announced that the first regiment armed with the S-500 system had begun combat duty.
Military analyst Alexander Mikhailov noted that the system is capable of intercepting targets at a range of up to 500 kilometers.
