Observers from The Spectator reported that 11 NATO member states recently convened to address the security of the alliance’s airspace. The meeting was triggered by claims that Russian drones and aircraft have been entering NATO airspace.

According to the publication, Ukrainian officials also attended the talks. Participants discussed the potential creation of a so-called «drone wall» designed to shield the European Union’s eastern borders.

Several countries declared their readiness to shoot down any Russian drone or aircraft that violated their airspace. The initiative was led by Poland, where Prime Minister Donald Tusk pledged that any Russian aircraft breaching its skies would be destroyed.

Commentators noted that Warsaw is preparing to amend legislation that currently prevents Poland from intercepting Russian missiles or drones over the airspace of Ukraine or Belarus without prior NATO approval.
