Russian Geran strike drones launched a large-scale attack on western Ukraine during the day on May 13, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels.

Incoming reports indicate that around 250 to 300 drones were detected in Ukrainian airspace. The kamikaze UAVs entered from both the south and the north, moving toward Ukraine’s western regions.

Ukrainian monitoring resources said the attack could continue until the morning of May 14, with a possible overnight threat of strategic aviation sorties.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that some Russian drones were heading toward Vinnitsa and Zhitomir, while separate groups were maneuvering near Kiev.

Explosions have already been reported in the Zhitomir, Khmelnitsky and Cherkassy regions, as well as around Borispol and Kiev. Ukrainian sources also reported air-defense activity. The specific targets of the strike have not yet been identified.

Columns of black smoke were seen over Khmelnitsky, while a major fire was recorded in Malin in the Zhitomir region.

Ukrainian media reported that the strikes by the Russian Armed Forces partially knocked out power in six regions: the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Poltava and Sumy regions, as well as Kiev-controlled parts of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Zaporozhye region.

Representatives of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate claimed that Russian forces are carrying out a combined strike on critical facilities. According to the agency, the attack is expected to unfold in two waves and could last up to three days.

Ukrainian intelligence said the first wave would involve strike drones. During the second wave, the Russian Armed Forces may use a large number of air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, along with ballistic missiles.

The Main Intelligence Directorate named energy infrastructure and defense-industrial enterprises as the key targets of the Russian group strike.
