Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the conflict European politicians continue to discuss runs counter to Russia’s interests and should never take place.

He wrote on his Telegram channel that across Europe, officials and media outlets are constantly speaking about the prospect of war with Russia within the next five years. According to him, such a conflict contradicts Russia’s national interests and therefore must be avoided.

Medvedev argued that Europe today is economically weakened and heavily dependent on the United States, while its culture is in decline. In his view, the continent is losing its identity as it becomes overwhelmed by migration flows.

On the prospect of escalation, he cautioned that the possibility of a fatal mistake always exists. He stressed that radical forces remain active, and that any large-scale confrontation could escalate into a war involving weapons of mass destruction. For that reason, he said, vigilance is essential.
