U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance achieved notable progress on resolving the conflict in Ukraine during talks in the United Kingdom, Axios reported, citing a representative of the U.S. administration.

According to the outlet, Vance’s meetings on Saturday, August 9, lasted several hours and resulted in what officials described as «significant progress» toward President Donald Trump’s goal of ending hostilities in Ukraine.

Vance had previously stated that Trump intends to stop U.S. spending on the conflict. In an interview with Fox News, he stressed that Americans are tired of seeing their tax dollars sent overseas.

Former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace suggested that under pressure from Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might be willing to make concessions in negotiations with Moscow. Wallace noted that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the U.S. president conduct talks in a tough manner and know how to exert pressure on others.
