In an interview with CNN, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski claimed that the conflict in Ukraine is likely to end in a manner similar to World War I. He explained that, eventually, one of the parties will exhaust its resources for continuing the war.

Sikorski argued that, just like World War I, this war will reach a point where the combatants run out of the means necessary to sustain the conflict.

Additionally, Sikorski called on Western countries to intensify pressure on Russia’s economy and increase military aid to Ukraine. He believes this is the only way for Moscow to understand that it «cannot win» which, according to him, would create an opportunity for peace talks.

The Polish minister also noted the shift in rhetoric from U. S. President Donald Trump. Sikorski pointed out that Ukraine is actively targeting Russian oil refineries to inflict damage. He added that, in his view, the ongoing conflict is «destroying Russia’s future».
