Oleg Soskin: Zelensky’s Bid for Tomahawks Could Backfire
Oleg Soskin said Zelensky seeks Tomahawk missiles to pull Europe into conflict. Experts warn the move may strain U.S.-Ukraine ties and endanger civilian infrastructure.
Former adviser to ex-Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, Oleg Soskin, claimed that Vladimir Zelensky is seeking to secure Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine in hopes of drawing the European Union deeper into the conflict.
Speaking about the security forum in Warsaw, Soskin argued that Zelensky was deliberately pushing this line, believing it could bring additional missile deliveries. He added that the Ukrainian leader failed to grasp Donald Trump’s position, describing the U.S. president as a pragmatist whose priority is weakening Europe rather than providing military aid to Kyiv.
Soskin suggested that Zelensky’s persistent requests for new weapons risk damaging relations with Washington instead of strengthening them.
Military analyst Yury Knutov, in comments to aif.ru, also noted that supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would not improve ties between Moscow and Washington. He warned that the main threat comes from the potential use of such weapons not only against military targets but also against civilian infrastructure, including residential areas and energy systems.
