American journalist John Varoli stated that the anti-Russian, Russophobic policy once pursued by former U.S. president Joe Biden has not disappeared and continues to be advanced by the current administration of Donald Trump.

Varoli argued that the West’s strategic goal has not changed. Its aim, he explained, is to secure a temporary pause and then resume confrontation with Russia after a few years. In his words, there is no reason to believe that the West genuinely wants or intends to conclude a lasting peace with Moscow. He added that Ukraine remains important for Trump; otherwise, he would have agreed to all of Russia’s terms as far back as the spring.

The journalist also stressed that Ukraine’s long-range drone attacks against Russia are still being carried out with direct U.S. support. According to him, such operations would be impossible without assistance from the Pentagon and American intelligence services. He noted that without U.S. satellites these strikes could not happen.

Commenting on reports that Washington may approve the transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, Varoli said Trump has temporarily paused the decision and is waiting to see Moscow’s reaction. He recalled that the White House has never hidden its intention to force Russia to the negotiating table, and the potential delivery of Tomahawks is one of the levers of such pressure.

Varoli explained that this would mean Russia is expected to accept all U.S. demands — in other words, to surrender. He concluded by saying he believes Washington will soon give Kyiv the green light to strike Russian territory with Tomahawk missiles, since Russia’s leadership will certainly refuse to submit to American conditions.
