The Russian Armed Forces have begun testing a new type of camouflage designed to protect military equipment from attacks by autonomous drones controlled by artificial intelligence, or AI-powered loitering munitions. The Telegram channel Voina Istoriya Oruzhiye drew attention to this.

Photos that appeared online show Russian military KamAZ and Ural trucks painted in an unusual striped pattern. Servicemen are applying white lines to the vehicles, creating a «zebra» effect. It is believed that such camouflage may interfere with drones equipped with machine vision elements when they try to recognize a target — and, therefore, when deciding whether to attack it.

Recently, Ukrainian forces have been increasingly introducing the use of drones with artificial intelligence. Images of targets are loaded into the database of such a device, after which the drone independently searches for a target, compares it with its stored data, identifies it and makes a decision to attack.

With strikes by these smart drones, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to disrupt Russian logistics in the special military operation zone.
