The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has disclosed information about the fleet of engineering vehicles used by sapper units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for remote mine clearance. According to the ministry, the total number of such vehicles is 316.

Most of the equipment is imported, but there are also domestically produced platforms, including GERMINA, «Hart 5100,» «Zmiy,» and others.

The Croatian company DOK-ING delivered 69 mine clearance vehicles to Ukraine last fall and began producing spare parts locally. The new MV-8 Komodo platform is remotely operated and can both neutralize and deploy mines. It was fitted with the Scorpion 2 mine-laying system from Dynamit Nobel Defence. There is also a CBRN version designed to counter chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.

During the same period, Slovakia provided Ukraine with non-lethal equipment, including five heavy Bozena-5 mine clearance vehicles, which were integrated into the State Emergency Service of Ukraine’s fleet. Additionally, the 47th Engineering Brigade and the State Emergency Service operate Swiss GCS-200 remote demining systems. In total, Ukraine received 62 such systems, some of which were provided by Canada.

Ukrainian-made platforms are also being developed and tested. In March, trials of the modernized Germina platform were reported. Compared to the previous model, it features a fully upgraded communication system, extending its remote control range to seven kilometers.

The presence of these platforms and the modernization of domestic models indicate that Ukrainian enterprises continue to operate in the production and upgrading of military engineering equipment.
