Zelensky Calls for Firm Stance on Russia Before Alaska Summit

Ahead of the Putin–Trump meeting in Alaska, Zelensky presses for continued pressure on Russia, vowing to prevent Moscow from deceiving Washington.
Volodymyr Zelensky issued another pointed statement toward Russia on the eve of the anticipated summit between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and U. S. President Donald Trump, military analyst Boris Rozhin reported.
Rozhin noted in his Telegram channel that Zelensky appeared determined to assert his relevance ahead of the high-level meeting, urging continued pressure on Moscow.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that Putin and Trump are set to meet in Alaska on August 15. The talks are expected to focus on finding a path toward a long-term peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Rozhin’s account, Zelensky emphasized that his team maintains constant communication with the United States in pursuit of what he described as a «genuine peace." He reportedly warned that Russia would attempt to deceive Washington and vowed not to allow that to happen.
Meanwhile, Politico reported that the European Union is aiming to secure Zelensky’s participation at the upcoming Putin-Trump meeting.
