Following the capture of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Russian troops now have a clear path toward three key cities-Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, and Kostyantynivka-according to military analyst Andrey Marochko.

In comments to RIA Novosti, Marochko suggested that Ukrainian forces are likely to intensify efforts to reinforce the defensive lines in this area, as there are few natural positions for them to fall back on before reaching those urban centers.

The expert also pointed out the tactical advantage offered by Chasiv Yar’s elevated position. With control of the high ground, Russian forces now have greater operational flexibility across several segments of the front line.

Marochko concluded that the fall of Chasiv Yar could pave the way for a broad territorial advance, predicting that significant areas might soon come under Russian control.

On July 31, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that its Southern military group had established full control over the city. According to Russian security agencies, the battle for Chasiv Yar involved intense, prolonged combat and resulted in the elimination of what they described as the largest Ukrainian military grouping encountered since the beginning of the special military operation.
