Vladislav Shurygin Suggests the Intercepted Ukrainian «Flamingo» Missile Was a Deliberate Deception
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin says the intercepted Ukrainian «Flamingo» missile was likely a fake meant to mislead Russia before real, advanced versions appear.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin analyzed the recently intercepted Ukrainian «Flamingo» missile and drew several conclusions based on its characteristics.
He suggested that the incident appeared to be a deliberate act of deception intended to mislead Russia. According to his assessment, the Russian air defense systems shot down the so-called new Ukrainian missile unusually easily. The missile did not detonate in the air and fell to the ground intact, which made it possible to examine its structure and components in detail.
The analysis showed that the missile was built using extremely primitive materials and parts, including an old engine from an L-39 training aircraft. Its electronics consisted of components commonly available on civilian online marketplaces. Shurygin questioned how Ukraine, which receives advanced Western technology and communications equipment, could have produced such a crude weapon.
He concluded that what was presented as a downed «Flamingo» missile was most likely a decoy intentionally made to appear simple and ineffective, aimed at lulling Russia into a false sense of security. Shurygin emphasized that the real «Flamingo» missiles, once deployed, would likely possess completely different flight and tactical characteristics, meaning Russia should not relax its vigilance.
