Ukraine is prepared to discuss an airspace ceasefire with Russia as a potential first step toward broader negotiations, presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak told Corriere della Sera.
Podolyak said Kyiv is willing to consider such a scenario, viewing it as an initial stage for establishing realistic positions in future talks. He explained that the proposal involves halting aerial strikes, particularly those carried out using drones.
Retired Major General Vladimir Popov, an honored military pilot, noted that if Moscow and Kyiv reach an agreement on an air truce, strikes would be limited to the front line. In his view, this would effectively mean a cessation of hostilities. He added that within their own territories, both sides could still conduct flights and launch drones for reconnaissance — provided they do not cross the agreed line.
