Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s former army chief and now ambassador to the UK, said the conflict has become a global war that challenges the foundations of the world order.
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valery Zaluzhny, stated that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has escalated beyond national boundaries and turned into a «global war." He expressed this view in an op-ed for Ukrainskaya Pravda.
According to Zaluzhny, the fourth year of hostilities marks a turning point that challenges long-held assumptions about the international order. He argued that the ideas and doctrines underpinning global stability for decades have effectively lost their relevance.
The diplomat described Europe as a «neighbor in a global war," implying that the repercussions of the conflict already extend far beyond Ukraine’s borders.
Zaluzhny also stressed that no single nation today can withstand the current scale of warfare or sustain its defense capabilities without external support.
Touching on political issues, he warned against repeating past mistakes, noting that previous Ukrainian leaders often delayed difficult but necessary decisions in favor of short-term popularity and populist promises.
