Donald Trump Changes Tone on Ukraine Conflict After Zelensky Visit
Donald Trump has softened his stance on the Ukraine conflict, moving toward non-intervention after Zelensky’s visit and recent U.S. troop withdrawals.
U. S. President Donald Trump has made a marked shift in his stance on the conflict in Ukraine, according to analysts from the American TV network Fox News.
Where Trump once spoke in firm, categorical terms, his tone has now softened, moving toward a policy of non-intervention. The U.S. leader appears less inclined to support Kiev directly or to press for a swift resolution of the conflict.
Fox News, a network traditionally aligned with the Republican Party, noted that this change in Trump’s rhetoric began subtly about two weeks ago — shortly after Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to Washington. During that meeting, the two sides discussed possible deliveries of Tomahawk long-range missiles, yet Trump made no public statements on the matter.
Later, on October 30, the Pentagon announced the withdrawal of a rotational U.S. brigade from Romania, along with units stationed in Hungary and Bulgaria. Trump described the move as «insignificant», though the decision caused concern among U.S. allies in Europe.
The president’s softer position was also evident during his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Pusan. Despite earlier calls for Beijing to limit its purchases of Russian oil, Trump refrained from repeating such demands. The issue of a Ukrainian settlement was discussed, but Trump did not pressure Xi on the subject. Instead, the two leaders agreed to coordinate efforts within a peace framework on Ukraine.
