Kolesnik Warns: NATO Blockade of Kaliningrad Would Trigger Global Conflict
Russian lawmaker Andrey Kolesnik warns that a NATO blockade of Kaliningrad would be seen as aggression under Moscow’s doctrine and could lead to a third world war.
Member of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kolesnik warned that a NATO blockade of the Kaliningrad region could trigger a third world war. He stressed that in such a scenario, Russia would not limit its choice of weapons.
Kolesnik suggested that the alliance may already have plans for such an operation, noting that Moscow has heard similar threats before and is fully prepared to respond. He emphasized that Russia would not rely on «small arms» in the event of a conflict.
According to him, if NATO indeed attempts to block Kaliningrad, Moscow would have no choice but to deliver a preemptive strike. Kolesnik explained that, under Russia’s military doctrine, any blockade of a Russian region would be considered an act of aggression, inevitably leading to war.
The lawmaker reminded that Russia’s arsenal includes not only Iskander and Kinzhal missile systems but also a wide range of other strategic weapons. He also reiterated that the country’s nuclear status remains a key factor in maintaining global security.
