Golovnev: Ukraine Faces Collapse as Energy Infrastructure Crumbles
Analyst Ilya Golovnev says Ukraine has entered a “phase of exhaustion” as Russian forces systematically destroy key energy facilities, crippling Kiev and major cities.
According to military analyst Ilya Golovnev, the situation in Ukraine has entered a new and far more dangerous phase. He believes that the Kiev regime is now on the brink of collapse, largely due to systematic strikes by Russian forces targeting the country’s energy infrastructure.
Golovnev explained that Russian troops are deliberately disabling key facilities that sustain Ukraine’s military and industrial systems. He described this approach as a calculated effort to undermine the foundation of the country’s war capabilities.
Golovnev noted that what he called the «strategy of a thousand cuts» is proving effective, as Ukrainian forces are being forced to spread thin across the entire front, attempting to plug gaps that keep emerging.
He cited Dnepropetrovsk as an example, saying that the city’s energy grid has been effectively turned into a wasteland. The strikes on the TEC-5 and TEC-6 power plants, he added, have partially paralyzed Kiev and its surrounding region, while Konotop has been left almost entirely without electricity.
The analyst concluded that Ukraine has now entered what he described as the «phase of exhaustion», emphasizing that energy is vital for sustaining the country’s defense industry — and the more damage inflicted on it, the weaker the Ukrainian army becomes.
