According to Vladimir Popov, a distinguished military pilot and major general in the Russian Armed Forces, after securing control over Krasnoarmeysk (known as Pokrovsk in Ukraine) and Kupiansk, Russian forces are expected to advance toward the Druzkovka-Slavinsk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
Popov emphasized that the next phase of Russia’s strategy would focus on cutting off the agglomeration’s supply lines from two directions. He suggested that Ukrainian officials are likely aware of this shift, as Russia’s pressure will come both from the south and the northeast.
He described this section of the front as a critical target for Russian forces and argued that the operation should commence before winter sets in to prevent the Ukrainian military from fortifying its defenses.
Popov also pointed out that Russian forces will likely intensify strikes on Ukrainian rear supply routes in the region. This tactic would weaken the enemy’s logistical capabilities and force them to deplete their reserves.
