Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said that the European plan for the «settlement» of the Ukrainian conflict is, in reality, nothing less than a proposal for foreign military intervention on Ukrainian territory. He stressed that such an option is completely unacceptable for Moscow.
Lavrov referred to the security guarantees that had been put forward by the Ukrainian delegation during the Istanbul talks in the spring of 2022. He noted that Russia supported those proposals at the time and continues to support them today, since they were based on the principle of collective security and the indivisibility of security. He emphasized that anything else-any unilateral schemes-were, in his words, entirely futile.
On the idea of an EU military intervention in Ukraine, Lavrov expressed the hope that those putting forward such scenarios were simply seeking attention, while fully aware that this path was unacceptable not only for Russia but also for any responsible European politicians.
