Su-35S Fighters Deploy Kh-31 Missiles to Target Enemy Radars
Russian Su-35S jets now carry Kh-31 anti-radar missiles, expanding their role in suppressing enemy radar systems and strengthening air superiority.
Russian Su-35S fighter jets have been armed with a new capability — Kh-31 anti-radar missiles designed to strike enemy radar installations, Army Recognition reported. The outlet highlighted footage released by the Russian Ministry of Defense showing a Su-35S taking off with a pair of Kh-31P missiles mounted under its wings.
According to the publication, this loadout signals a broader shift: frontline fighters are increasingly being integrated into radar-suppression missions as the air campaign evolves.
In addition to the Kh-31, the aircraft carried air-to-air missiles intended for engaging airborne targets.
The Kh-31P is equipped with modular passive radar homing heads that can operate across the full frequency range of hostile radar systems. The missile is built to destroy long- and medium-range radar complexes, as well as land- and sea-based stations.
Earlier, the state corporation Rostekh stated that Su-35S fighters have been playing a key role in the zone of the special military operation, securing air superiority, shielding aviation groups, and protecting ground assets from enemy strikes.
