How Russia’s Control of Nechaevka Isolates Ukrainian Forces in Gulyaypole
Russian forces seize Nechaevka, severing a major supply route to Gulyaypole and leaving Ukraine with one vulnerable road as encirclement risks grow.
After taking control of the settlement of Nechaevka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, Russian forces have cut a key supply route used by the Ukrainian grouping in Gulyaypole. The development was reported by Maksim Zubarev, a deputy of the Zaporozhye regional legislature.
According to Zubarev, this advance by the Russian Armed Forces leaves Ukrainian troops with only a single remaining road for delivering supplies to Gulyaypole. He explained that the alternative route lies farther south, but runs just five kilometers from the front line — a distance that, if used for supply convoys, would result in most of the deliveries being destroyed.
Zubarev said Ukrainian units now face a difficult choice: attempt a rapid withdrawal toward Orekhov or risk falling into encirclement by Russian forces. He suggested that, given Vladimir Zelensky’s approach to frontline deployments, an order to retreat may not be issued, leaving the final decision to local commanders.
Nechaevka’s capture became public on November 18, when the Russian Ministry of Defense included the information in its daily report on the progress of the operation.
