Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense units shot down 95 Ukrainian drones during the night of August 23–24. The interceptions took place over a wide swath of regions, including Bryansk, Tver, Kaluga, Orel, Tambov, Novgorod, Belgorod, Rostov, Kursk, Smolensk, Samara, and Leningrad, as well as over Crimea and Tatarstan.

The ministry confirmed that some attacks caused damage on the ground. In Syzran, Samara region, an industrial facility came under drone fire. In the Sovetsky district of Bryansk, falling debris damaged the facades and windows of a residential building. A fire also broke out at Novatek’s gas terminal in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region.

Bryansk governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that in the village of Churovichi, Klimovsky district, a Ukrainian drone struck a civilian car, injuring a man and a woman who were later hospitalized. He added that 25 drones were downed over Bryansk region in a single night.

The wave of drone activity prompted temporary closures at around ten airports, including Sheremetyevo in Moscow and Pulkovo in St. Petersburg.
