Borei-Class Submarines: Russia’s Nuclear Arsenal in the Arctic

Military Watch Magazine reports Russia has concentrated the world’s largest nuclear arsenal in the Arctic, with Borei-class submarines carrying record warhead capacity.
The American outlet Military Watch Magazine commented on recent remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated that the fleet of Borei-class nuclear submarines could give Russia a clear advantage over the West in the event of a nuclear conflict. According to the publication, Russia has assembled the world’s largest nuclear arsenal in the Arctic.
The authors stressed that the exceptionally high concentration of Russian nuclear submarines in the Arctic region has made them particularly well adapted to operate in the harsh conditions of the far north. The magazine also pointed out that Borei-class vessels carry more nuclear warheads on board than any other type of warship in the world.
Special attention was given to the submarine Knyaz Pozharskiy, which entered service at the end of July and became the fifth upgraded vessel of the Borei-A series.
Journalists reminded readers that these massive submarines are the largest operational boats of their kind in the world. Each vessel, with a displacement of 24,000 tons, is armed with sixteen RSM-56 intercontinental ballistic missiles. Every missile is equipped with multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles, capable of carrying up to ten nuclear warheads aimed at different targets.
