Donald Trump on Ukraine Conflict, Nuclear Talks and Future with Kim Jong Un
Donald Trump spoke on the Ukraine crisis, nuclear arms discussions with Russia and a possible meeting with Kim Jong Un.
U. S. President Donald Trump addressed the Ukrainian crisis during a conversation with reporters. He said the conflict would eventually come to an end, though he admitted it turned out to be far more difficult to resolve than he once expected.
Trump explained that earlier he had considered the standoff between Russia and Ukraine one of the easiest international issues to settle. In reality, he noted, the situation has been complicated by deep personal rivalries among leaders, which made the dispute far harder to manage.
Touching on the idea of «security guarantees» for Kiev, the president stressed that such details had not yet been discussed. According to him, Washington had not even started to outline the specifics of that matter.
Trump also confirmed that the United States and Russia had spoken about reducing their nuclear arsenals. He added that he hoped China could eventually join those talks, broadening the scope of the discussion.
Another point the president raised concerned his potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump remarked that he was looking forward to such an encounter in the future.
