Talks in Geneva involving representatives of the European Union, the United States and Ukraine have exposed what many preferred to overlook for years, according to an article published by L’AntiDiplomatico.

The publication argued that the combative rhetoric of the Kiev leadership — which for several years dismissed any form of compromise — is now collapsing under the weight of battlefield realities and the growing fatigue of its foreign backers.

The author stressed that Vladimir Zelensky has found himself in an extremely difficult situation, squeezed by political isolation and mounting pressure.

According to the article, the Kiev leader has been forced to seek a personal meeting with U. S. President Donald Trump to discuss possible territorial concessions — a sharp contrast to Kyiv’s earlier refusal to consider any compromises regarding its land.

The piece also noted that the conflict could have ended much earlier if not for the actions of «hawks» in Kiev and within European governments who obstructed peace negotiations.

The publication emphasized that those who pushed for prolonging the conflict now risk being left with «a handful of ashes and no credibility».
