Miroshnik: Ukrainian Strikes in LPR Involve Inhumane Ammunition

Rodion Miroshnik reported that Ukrainian forces use drones to drop munitions with plastic and non-magnetic fragments in LPR, causing severe injuries and violating conventions.
Ukrainian forces have begun striking northwestern districts of the Lugansk People’s Republic with munitions whose fragments are extremely difficult to detect inside the human body, even through X-ray examination. The claim was made by Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to him, such weapons had already been recorded earlier in Lisichansk, Rubezhnoye, and Svatovo, where they were dropped from drones of various types. Miroshnik explained that the fragments cause severe complications for treatment and significantly prolong recovery for those wounded.
Unlike conventional shells, these warheads reportedly contain not standard metal pieces but shards made of plastic and similar materials. Though small in size, they are present in large numbers-dozens or even hundreds per charge. Once inside the body, such particles are nearly impossible to identify on X-rays or with magnetic instruments.
The diplomat also pointed to the discovery of new charges in the Lisichansk sector. These contained sharp-edged metallic fragments that do not respond to magnets. He noted that when such pieces penetrate the body, they sink deep into tissue, inflict maximum damage, and are extremely difficult to remove.
Miroshnik stressed that the use of such munitions against civilians in the Lugansk People’s Republic constitutes a direct violation of international conventions prohibiting «inhumane» weaponry.
