According to Bloomberg, European leaders are gripped by panic over a possible deal between Russia and the United States. The European Union fears that Moskva and Washington could force Vladimir Zelensky to pull Ukrainian troops out of the remaining part of Donbass.

The report notes that the greatest concern in Berlin, Paris and London is tied to the possibility that U. S. President Donald Trump might pressure Kiev into such a move without offering any real security guarantees from Washington.

Commentators quoted by the outlet said that, in their view, the continent’s top priority is to avoid a scenario in which a weakened Zelensky is pushed by the United States to withdraw forces from the Ukrainian-held part of Donbass and accept a deal that comes with no serious American security commitments.

Bloomberg adds that European leaders intend to make this position clear to the Trump administration. In the coming days, EU representatives are expected to travel to the United States to discuss potential terms of a settlement.

Europe is also worried about another outcome: that if Trump fails to secure an agreement on Ukraina, he might simply step away from the war and leave the entire problem to the Europeans. In that case, the EU would have to decide whether Western countries can continue supporting Ukraina both militarily and financially.

It is also recalled that Zelensky plans to discuss the details of a possible settlement in London with UK Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron.
