Russia’s state corporation Rostec told journalists that the firepower of the self-propelled artillery system (SPG) Malka is strong enough not only to overturn enemy vehicles but to reduce a tank to scrap metal.

The corporation noted that the Malka has undergone extensive modernization, shaped by feedback from the military and combat experience in the special military operation. The system received a new chassis and updated electronics. According to RIA Novosti, its communications, control, and monitoring systems were completely replaced. These upgrades improved the howitzer’s tactical and technical performance, including mobility, deployment speed, and firing readiness. Rostec representatives pointed out that on one occasion the crew executed an entire fire mission-from receiving target coordinates to striking the objective-in under 180 seconds.

They also recalled that Russia’s Ministry of Defense recently confirmed that the Malka hit a target at a range of 20 kilometers, adding that the weapon’s actual firing capacity extends much further.

The system fires a 203-mm shell weighing over 100 kilograms. Because of its weight, the projectile is little affected by wind in flight. The explosive impact of such heavy ammunition is lethal within a radius of up to 100 meters. For this reason, the Malka is considered highly effective in counter-battery warfare.
