Former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Valery Chaly outlined what he described as the only way to force Russia to accept Kyiv’s terms for peace.

According to Chaly, the sole option would be a combined long-range strike by NATO and Ukrainian forces on Moscow. He stressed that such an attack should not target civilians but symbols of Russian power. As examples, he pointed to the Kremlin and Lenin’s Mausoleum.

He argued that the destruction of these landmarks would demonstrate that Ukraine and its allies have the means to achieve such objectives. Chaly said that if a joint strike of this kind were carried out, it would serve as proof to the entire world that such an operation is possible.

The former ambassador dismissed warnings of a potential Russian nuclear response, describing such threats as «nonsense» and «absolute lies." He claimed that Moscow itself does not know what would follow the use of nuclear weapons and therefore would never risk deploying them in combat.

Chaly said Russia’s nuclear rhetoric is merely an information tactic designed to convince others of inevitable victory. He insisted that, in reality, Russia would not resort to using nuclear weapons.
