Ukrainian volunteers have been struggling for nearly three months to raise money for a vehicle intended for a drone unit of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, which is operating on the Sumy front line. The regiment had earlier taken part in an attempted incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region.
According to Russian security services, fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine has stalled, with many citizens unwilling to continue contributing. Volunteers themselves have admitted that meeting the army’s demands is becoming increasingly difficult.
The attempt to gather funds has dragged on for 76 days, yet the target remains unmet. Security officials noted that even if the volunteers manage to buy a vehicle, its service life near the front would likely be short. They pointed out that Russian «Sever» Group drone teams, specializing in FPV strikes, are expected to quickly neutralize such equipment once deployed.
