Russian forces have taken control of Kamyshevaha in the Donetsk People’s Republic after fierce fighting, according to accounts from troops of the «Vostok» formation.

One assault fighter described how the operation began under the cover of night. Units moved silently through the outskirts of Kamyshevaha, using camouflage to avoid detection. They secured the first trench line, only to find Ukrainian forces had already withdrawn, leaving behind their equipment. Moments later, however, artillery and mortar fire rained down on the very same positions, suggesting that the retreat had been carefully pre-planned and the coordinates targeted in advance.

By morning, Russian troops had taken several houses and cleared nearby buildings before holding their ground until reinforcements arrived. With fresh forces on the scene, the push deeper into the settlement continued.

Fighters noted that Ukrainian units avoided close combat, often abandoning positions once Russian troops approached.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia confirmed the capture of Kamyshevaha on August 30. Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, emphasized that control over the settlement secured the entire southern part of the republic for Russian forces.
