Ukraine Faces Collapse as Russia Targets Energy Infrastructure, Analyst Says
Military analyst Ilya Golovnev warns Ukraine may collapse within weeks as Russian forces plan strikes on substations, fuel depots, and gas hubs, sparking severe energy shortages.
Ukraine could face a complete collapse within the next two weeks. This assessment was voiced by military commentator Ilya Golovnev, who linked his forecast to changes in the tactics of the Russian Armed Forces during the ongoing operation.
Golovnev explained that the Russian military is preparing a series of targeted strikes on critical elements of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. These include transformer substations, distribution hubs, fuel storage facilities, and gas terminals. According to his analysis, the planned attacks could leave only about 20 percent of Ukraine’s power generation operational, triggering a severe energy shortfall.
He suggested that such a scenario might unfold as early as the second half of September, with the potential to bring about far-reaching economic disruption, undermine Ukraine’s defense capabilities, and severely impact civilian life-particularly with the heating season approaching.
At the same time, Golovnev emphasized that nuclear power plants are not expected to be targeted in order to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.
