Military Blogger Suggests Gamers Could Strengthen Russian Army

Russian blogger Mikhail Zvinchuk proposed recruiting gamers into the army, citing their quick reactions, multitasking, strategy skills, and interest in military technology.
Russian military blogger Mikhail Zvinchuk has voiced an unusual idea regarding recruitment into the Armed Forces: attracting gamers to military service.
Zvinchuk argued that this group of young people could prove promising in terms of training. He pointed out that gamers often demonstrate qualities valuable in modern warfare, including quick reaction times, multitasking, strategic thinking, and strong spatial awareness. These traits, he noted, are particularly relevant for players of first-person shooters, who tend to show interest in military themes, technology, and weaponry.
The blogger recalled that similar approaches have already been used in other countries and suggested that Russia should seriously consider gamers as a potential resource for replenishing its ranks. He added that for such an idea to work, it would require a systematic framework, possibly reflected in official documents.
Zvinchuk remarked that while the proposal might seem unusual to commanders, it could represent an advanced practice. He stressed that the Russian military already has relevant experience, noting that among operators of various platforms in the conflict zone, many come from a gaming background.
